Shower for Milah

      We got together at Trio to have a family shower for Alyssa and Dan and their soon to appear daughter.  It was fun to see everyone and it sure is fun to shop for the new baby.  I put together a diaper cake but I don't have a picture to show.  Sorry.  Anyway, she got a lot of cute stuff.
   Talking of getting together with friends and laughing  here is something random that I read about in Nat. Geographic. In English we us LOL for e-laughing.  In French they use mdr (mort de rire - died of laughter).  In Spanish it is jajaja (ha-ha-ha) which is pretty fun but I think I like the Malaysian better -ha3.
     And here are a couple of quotes that will hopefully bring a smile.  They are by Friedrich Nietzsche.

My kids would probably say that last one probably describes me a little.
    

Birds

     This morning I went to get the paper and heard an owl hooting as I stepped out on the porch.  It flew over me as I was walking out. It was still fairly dark but I think it was a great horned owl and I think it was a mating call. It would be neat if they nested here.  That is the second owl I have seen this year (we saw one on a hike in Palm Springs)  I usually go decades between sightings so that was cool.
     Bryan and I drove down to the Farmington Bay Refuge to see the bald eagles wintering there.  We were hoping to see something like this:

that I saw on the utahbirds.org  website.  We only saw 3 and they were pretty far away.  Then I read in the newspaper that 3 is about the most anyone is seeing this year.  Most years there are around 100 but I guess the weird, warm winter has them staying up north.  Oh, well.  It was fun to drive all through the bay and check it out and it gives us something to plan on doing next year.
