I was born as a middle child and the middle girl. I married a middle child. I'm a middlin parent, have developed a bit of a middle and, as my children like to remind me, I have hit middle age. I like to keep in mind this poem by Elzayyat:
"Is it here already, the middle?
You can't know unless you know the end.
Is a new day round the bend?
You must know the number, to answer the riddle."
