Hebgen Lake Memories-Part 1

 

    Hebgen Lake Overview:

Cabin – lovely

Lake – Pretty near full.  Never seen it so high this late in the year.

Weather – Pretty near perfect days in the 70’s but the nights were cold and around freezing.  Made for a good excuse to enjoy that big fire

Mosquitos – Not too bad surprisingly

Stars – Amazing

 We were lucky enough to have Matthew come up to Hebgen to spend the Labor Day Weekend.  He hadn’t been up here for 4 years so it was about time.  We arrived on Friday night.  Saturday we took had a leisurely morning before heading into West Yellowstone.  We had bought everyone else Hebgen Lake t-shirts in the old silk-screen style and so we let him choose one. We then went into the lobby of the Three Bears (where they have a nice HD TV) to watch the BYU-Ole Miss football game.  So glad we won.

     Next day was a trip into Yellowstone.  It had been too long and we always were just taking the drive to Old Faithful and spots in between. Matt said he didn’t even know there was a Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.  He has now seen it. 

     Since we didn’t bring the boat it is rather quiet around the cabin with just us 3.  Matt decided the next day to have us do the drive to see Quake Lake and the other earthquake of ’59 vestiges.  It was interesting and worked out well since he was getting a ride home with the Jacobson’s and their cabin is over there by the dam.
