Well, just a little wrap up of things that we did at Hebgen. Dad did keep us fairly busy.
| No white spots! He's getting younger. |
*We gave Bowser a haircut. We didn’t want to cut his main fur off until the end because the nights were still cold (in the 30’s) and even in the cabin it would cool off. It ended up being just his face and then his front paws and legs and finally the whole thing. The amazing thing is that he has no white spots this time: no angel wings, now spotted cow, just a sleek gray. He looks good.
*We made 3 batches of zucchini bread. Well, I made one and then Bryan did the last 2 while I was content to spend the evening reading. He likes to be up and doing.
*We rented a carpet cleaner and cleaned the carpets on the main floor and the couch.
*We took all the throw rugs into town and washed them while we enjoyed a nice dinner in town. Bryan got a barbecued beef sandwich and I enjoyed a good pulled pork. We just can't remember the name of the restaurant but we know where it is.
*Hiked some of the Continental Divide trail. Got a glimpse of a moose with his fun antlers before he went crashing off.
*Drove all over Horse Butte Peninsula. I didn’t know there is a little town over there and a nice forest service campground and a free boat launch. It was nice getting the lay of the land.
*Bryan cleaned out and defrosted the garage freezer and cleaned up some of the garage.
*I mended carpets and pillows and couches.
*Hiked Mt. Hebgen – I got sore muscles from that one. It was 6 miles roundtrip with an elevation gain of 1500 feet. Parts of it were pretty strenuous. It felt like an intense stair-stepper workout. At the top we enjoyed a nice vista of the lake and then we turned around and could see a great view of the scarp from the earthquake following all along the mountain.
*Cleaned out the oven.
*Watched DVD’s Bryan checked out of the library like The Caine Mutiny and History Channels Russian Tzars and did lots of reading.
*We enjoyed wonderful fires and roasted lots of those giant marshmallows for s’mores—Yummie!
*Did some running and riding the mini-bike and even jumped in the cold lake.
It was a fun time. It was very hard to come home but we finally made ourselves do it. We are so strong.
